FAQs

What is the class size?

Class sizes are small and we consider this one of our selling points! Smaller class size means more individualized attention from teachers and more progress!

Can my children take only electives at Athenaeum of Central Mississippi?

Absolutely! We want YOU to help pick the experience and the classes that suit your family! We have included some academics for families that would like some accountability in that area, but you can certainly choose to take elective classes only!

What ages or grades are recommended for your program?

We recommend students entering 1st grade through high school as our ideal candidates for the program.

What additional materials will we need to purchase?

Students taking ballet or tap will need appropriate shoes. Students taking musical instrument lessons ideally need to have access to that instrument at home. Students in First Lego League and Odyssey of the Mind will have additional fees. Some academic classes may require additional curriculum or literature and these will be handled per class.

Can students earn high school credits at Athenaeum of Central Mississippi?

Yes! High school students may earn high school credits per classes that they are enrolled in. Please speak with our Director regarding credits prior to completion of enrollment.

Can we schedule a time to visit the school prior to registering?

Yes, please contact us to schedule a time to visit.

Do you have an attendance policy?

We do not require a formal attendance record. We realize that one of the joys of homeschooling is flexibility and the freedom to travel when it is best for your family. As a courtesy, if you are going to be absent, we ask that you let us know. As stated in the Tuition Policy section, your financial commitment is for the semester, independent of the number of days you physically attend.

What are the Tuition and Fees?

There is a $20 per student pre-registration and processing fee. Tuition is $4000 yearly per student and a $250 registration fee per family. Please note that if, for any reason, your child is unable to finish out the school year, you are still financially responsible for the full school year’s tuition. We use your payment commitment to guarantee our teachers’ salaries, rental contracts and liability insurance contract for the school year. Your submission of the online registration form is acceptance of this financial commitment.
