Classes

Athenaeum of Central Mississippi was founded to provide an enriching arts and gifted program to the homeschooling community in a child-centric environment utilizing a European pedagogy. We will provide this enriching environment two days a week which leaves families plenty of time the rest of the week to pursue interests, focus on subjects that the child needs more time with, take educational trips, and get involved in community events or volunteer work – the choice is yours!

Class selections have been thoughtfully chosen to provide students with a unique classroom experience. Not only are classes small, but each class is purpose-driven to instill critical thinking, problem solving, and artistic skills as well as developing interpersonal communication skills. Studies show a correlation between an enriching arts education and higher scores in reading, math, and critical thinking as well as increased creativity and innovation.

One of the biggest components to Athenaeum of Central Mississippi is the creation of a space and place for deeper learning and topic exploration seen in gifted classrooms, allowing students deep dives into areas of interest or helping generate new areas of interest, fostering not only a love for learning, but also a safe space for intellectual curiosity.
